Because Drew Magary cannot into racing (unless he steps foot on this forum), I have taken the opportunity to name some GOATs in select classes of motorsport. My takes are captioned.
WARNING: The takes here will be piping hot. Prepare yourself.
Note: this is just the opinion of one man and one commenter, and does not reflect the views of this forum or Jalopnik.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
All-time Greatest Racing Driver/F1: Ayrton Senna
Triple Crown of Racing: Graham Hill
Endurance prototypes: Tom Kristensen
Rally: Sebastien Loeb. Someone will hate me for this: https://oppositelock.kinja.com/sebastien-loeb-is-kind-of-a-dick-498821123
Greatest Woman to Race: Michele Mouton
Touring Car: Andy Priaulx (and GOAT touring car maker is BMW)
Australia Supercars: Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup (tied)
Hillclimb: Nobuhiro Tajima (hillclimb purists say dirt and mixed-surface Pikes Peak is the best, and with Tajima-san’s record on the surface it’s hard to find a better driver)
Drift: Keiichi Tsuchiya
GT: [honestly this is hard to list because GT is just so damn tight]
NASCAR: Richard Petty (this was tough, and why I held off adding a NASCAR slot. It was either him or Dale Earnhardt Sr. I think they’re tied.
Drag racing: John Force (again, another tough choice)
MotoGP: Valentino Rossi (unless Marc Marquez can get to 10 titles before Rossi gets his 10th)
Greatest Motorcycle Rider: Joey Dunlop
Motocross: Ricky Carmichael
Car + Bike: John Surtees
And now special shoutouts to the following:
Sir Stirling Moss, the greatest non-champion
Sir Jack Brabham, who became champion driving his own car
Jean Rondeau, who created his own car, one that bagged him a Le Mans win
Alex Zanardi, who makes me unworthy
And finally, Leena Gade, who’s simply the boss.
This list is created entirely to start some shit-talkking, so stir shit, y’all, and tell Stef or anyone else back at Jalopnik to rip my picks to shreds. More will be added in the comments area.
DISCLAIMER: not all of the goats and GOATs are in this list. You were misled, bitch. Clickbait FTW!!!

What do you mean you can’t point out the GOAT GT driver?
It’s clearly Vadim Kogay

Faith in OPPO sorely misplaced by dint of omitting GOAT goatee (in racing).
You certainly knocked it out of the park with sheer number of goat images though.

Petty is overrated. Earnhardt and the Wonder Boy are both better. 200 wins, blah blah blah, they ran like 60 races a year. It wasn’t top tier talent. Petty would unload sometimes over a second faster than the rest of the racers and this was on mostly short tracks.

I had more than the Aussie Goat. Kinja didn’t post the 5 other GTOs......

David Pearson too. The only reason he has “only” 105 wins is that a lot of the time the Wood Brothers didn’t run the full season when he was their driver.

I’ve never heard of any of these people. Except that Petty guy. I think I saw him hawking some car care products on TV one time.

Pretty much all of the driver names I recognized, I agreed with. The one exception, though, was that I’m unsure about Tsuchiy a for drifting—I realize that he was a pioneer of the discipline, but I wonder how he’d fare in competition against a number of other drivers these days: Nob Taniguchi, for example, or if we’re looking at talent in America’s Formula Drift series, Frederic Aasbo or James Deane are fantastically consistent. You know what? N evermind. Tsuchiya is the originator responsible for the popularity of drifting, and I’m sure that his talent hasn’t waned, he gets it.
But rather than Richard Petty, the NASCAR pick is a no-brainer:

Come to think of it, Ayrton did look up to Fangio.
